Sabotage Counters

Master the art of disruptionโ€”and how to survive it

โš”๏ธ Two Sides of the Coin

๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ Playing Sabotage

  • ๐ŸŽฏ
Target the leader. Sabotage is most valuable against the player closest to winning.
  • โฐ
Time it right. Sabotage after they've committed resources but before they score.
  • ๐Ÿ“‰
Hit multiplied scores. Reducing a multiplied total hurts more than reducing base cards.
  • ๐ŸŽญ
Bluff sometimes. Even holding Sabotage cards can make opponents play cautiously.
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ
Watch the cost. Don't spend 4 Energy on Sabotage when you could score 20+ yourself.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Defending Against Sabotage

  • ๐Ÿƒ
Hold Cancel cards. Some Chaos cards can cancel Sabotage effects entirely.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š
Spread your score. Don't put all eggs in one basketโ€”multiple moderate scores beat one big one.
  • ๐Ÿƒ
Score early. Points already in your win pile can't be sabotaged.
  • ๐Ÿ‘€
Watch Energy. Players with high Energy are more likely to have Sabotage ready.
  • ๐Ÿค
Don't lead. Let others take the targetโ€”second place is safer mid-game.

โฑ๏ธ When to Sabotage

โœ…

Good Times

When leader is far ahead. When you can't win this hand anyway. When opponent has obvious big play coming.

โš ๏ธ

Risky Times

When multiple opponents could sabotage you back. When you're using all your Energy on it.

โŒ

Bad Times

When you could win by focusing on your own score. When targeting someone who isn't actually threatening.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Counter Strategies

Cancel Effects

Card-Based Counter

Several Chaos cards can cancel Sabotage effects. "A Quiet Place" specifically cancels 1 sabotage and reduces that player's total. Hold these for critical moments when opponents telegraph their Sabotage plays.

Aura Protection

Passive Defense

Some Aura cards provide protection against Sabotage or reduce incoming damage. Build these early to make yourself a less attractive targetโ€”Sabotage players will go for easier victims.

Score Splitting

Strategic Play

Instead of one massive 50-point hand, aim for two 25-point hands. Even if one gets sabotaged, you've secured points. This also makes you look less like the leader.

Political Play

Social Strategy

If someone sabotages you, other players may see them as a threat. Sometimes letting a Sabotage through paints a target on the attackerโ€”just make sure you survive long enough to capitalize.

โš ๏ธ The Sabotage Trap

Don't get tunnel vision on sabotaging others! Every Energy spent disrupting opponents is Energy not spent winning yourself. The best Sabotage players know when to stop attacking and start scoring.
