โ Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to common questions about Human Enough
๐ฎ Basic Rules
-
How many players can play Human Enough?
Human Enough supports 2-12 players. The game scales well at any player count, though 4-8 players is considered the sweet spot for party play. With more players, games have more interaction and Sabotage becomes more impactful.
-
How do I win the game?
The first player to win 10 hands wins the match! Each hand, you score points by playing cardsโthe sum of their Power values, plus any bonuses, multiplied by any Multiplier effects. The highest score wins the hand.
-
When does a hand end?
A hand ends when all players have passed. Once you pass, you cannot play any more cards that hand. Players take turns until everyone has passed, then scores are calculated and a new hand begins.
-
How many cards do I start with?
At the start of each hand, you receive:
- 3 Chaos cards (your special abilities)
- 7 Action cards (your private hand)
- 10 Energy to spend on playing cards
๐ Card Mechanics
-
What's the difference between Chaos and Action cards?
Chaos cards are dealt one per player, face-up. They have powerful unique effects and everyone can see what you have. Action cards are your private handโyou draft 5 at the start and can draw more during play. Action cards have more standardized effects based on their Type.
-
Do I have to play my Chaos card?
No! Playing your Chaos card is optional. However, Chaos cards are usually your most powerful cards, so you'll want to play them when the timing is right. Some strategies involve holding your Chaos card to bait out opponent Sabotage.
-
What does "Link" mean on a card?
Link cards let you play additional Action cards for free or at reduced cost. When a card says "Link up to 2 Actions," you can immediately play up to 2 more Action cards without paying their Energy cost. This enables powerful card chains.
-
When do Multipliers apply?
Multipliers apply at the END of the hand, after all cards are played and all bonuses are calculated. Your base total (Power + bonuses) is then multiplied. Multiple multipliers stack multiplicatively: ร2 and ร2 = ร4 total.
-
Can I cancel a Chaos card with Sabotage?
Yes! Sabotage can target any card being played, including Chaos cards. This is one of the most powerful uses of Sabotageโdenying an opponent their powerful Chaos effect. Time your Sabotage carefully.
โก Energy & Costs
-
Does unspent Energy carry over?
No. Energy resets to 10 at the start of each hand. Unspent Energy is lost, so try to use all your Energy each hand. However, don't force bad plays just to spend Energyโquality over quantity.
-
Can I play a card if I don't have enough Energy?
No. You must have Energy equal to or greater than a card's Cost to play it. However, some effects (like Link) let you play cards for free, bypassing the cost requirement.
-
When do I gain Energy from Energize cards?
Immediately when the Energize card resolves. You pay the card's Cost first, then gain the Energize bonus. The gained Energy can be used right away on your same turn.
-
What's a good Energy-to-card ratio?
With 10 starting Energy, aim to play 3-5 cards per hand on average. If you're consistently playing fewer, look for Energize or Link cards. If you're running out of cards to play, prioritize Draw effects.
๐ฏ Scoring
-
How is my hand score calculated?
Hand Score = (Sum of Power + All Bonuses) ร Multipliers
- Add up Power values of all played cards
- Add Push, Rally, Combo, and other bonuses
- Multiply by any Multiplier effects (applied at end)
-
Do unplayed cards count toward my score?
No. Only cards you play contribute to your score. Cards left in your hand at the end of a hand score zero points. This is why you want to spend your Energy efficientlyโunplayed cards are wasted potential.
-
What happens if my score goes negative?
Negative scores are possible due to Sabotage effects that reduce your total. A negative hand score subtracts from your overall match score. In extreme cases, this can put you in the negative overall.
-
What's a good hand score?
Average hand scores range from 15-30 points. A score of 40+ is excellent. With Multipliers, scores can exceed 100. The key is consistencyโwinning multiple hands with solid 25-point scores beats occasionally spiking to 50.
๐ง Strategy Tips
-
Should I play my best cards first or last?
It depends on the card type:
- Auras: Play FIRST (buff subsequent cards)
- Rally: Play EARLY (more cards after = more bonus)
- Combo: Play LATE (counts cards already played)
- Multipliers: Play LAST (maximize total before multiplying)
-
When should I use Sabotage?
Save Sabotage for high-value targets: Multipliers, powerful Chaos cards, or cards enabling big combos. Don't waste Sabotage on a 3-point card when your opponent might play a Multiply ร3 next turn.
-
Is it better to play many cheap cards or few expensive cards?
Both strategies work! Many cheap cards synergize with Combo and Rally effects. Few expensive cards work better with Aura and Multiply. Read your hand and build toward whichever synergy you have pieces for.
-
How do I counter an opponent with a strong Chaos card?
Options include:
- Hold Sabotage to cancel their Chaos when they play it
- Pressure them to play it early before their setup is ready
- Focus on your own scoreโsometimes outpacing is better than countering
- Target the player with Reduce effects if available
-
What's the biggest mistake new players make?
Playing cards in the wrong order. Sequencing matters! Common mistakes:
- Playing Combo before other cards (loses bonus)
- Playing Multiplier early (less total to multiply)
- Playing Aura late (fewer cards to buff)
- Wasting Sabotage on low-value targets
